Reclaiming Your Vibrant Thyroid Health

Hi, I’m Danielle Meitiv, M.S., a health coach passionate about helping people with thyroid issues like Hashimoto’s, hypothyroidism, and more get their energy, bodies, and lives back. I’m excited to guide you toward revitalized health, drawing from my personal journey with Hashimoto’s and over 20 years of experience in science and policy.

Before health coaching, I studied oceanography and earned an MS, dedicating over two decades to climate and environmental policy. My desire to help others, my family’s history of autoimmune diseases and cancer, and my own health journey led me to change careers and focus on functional medicine.

I became a certified Primal Health Coach in 2019, a Master Primal Health Coach in 2022, and I’m currently deepening my expertise at the School for Applied Functional Medicine. In 2024, I earned a 150-hour herbalism certification, expanding my ability to offer holistic solutions for thyroid health.

As part of my herbalism studies and holistic health focus, I’ve done a deep dive into the powerful benefits of medicinal and psychedelic mushrooms, exploring various ways to use them to enhance overall wellness and heal the body, mind, and spirit. I’ve now incorporated mushrooms into my work, as the evidence for their role in supporting women’s health, thyroid health, healthy aging, and mental well-being continues to grow with emerging research.

Outside of work, I love gardening, traveling, rock climbing, dancing, strength training, and reading. I live in Silver Spring, MD, with my two teenagers and our lovable rescue dog, Gizmo. Join me on the journey to reclaim your health and vitality!

Before I healed my body, I was always puffy, bloated, & in pain.

My Personal Journey

I’ve cultivated a profound fascination with medical science and the forefront of health and wellness. This transformative journey was partly inspired by my family’s heart-wrenching history of autoimmune diseases and cancer, predominantly among the women.

My grandmother succumbed to breast cancer at the tender age of 44, my younger aunt battled a brain tumor at 43, following her struggles with multiple sclerosis (MS), and my mother faced the challenges of Grave’s disease. At 44, she was diagnosed with bladder cancer, a battle she ultimately lost at the age of 64.

My own Hashimoto’s diagnosis was a heart-stopping moment. I was determined not to become another entry in our family’s tragic history. So, I channeled my love for science and research into an insatiable quest to comprehend this disorder and discover ways to heal from it.

Was it mere coincidence that this shift occurred in my mid-forties, precisely the age when so many women in my family faced cancer diagnoses or succumbed to the disease? Or did this subconsciously influence my desire to transition from environmental science to health science, from policy-focused work to a service-oriented calling? Most likely, yes.

Certification and Specialization

In 2019, I got certified as a Primal Health Coach through the fantastic program started by Mark Sisson, ancestral health genius and one of my personal heroes.

To dive even deeper into the practice of functional medicine, I enrolled in the School for Applied Functional Medicine (SAFM) in 2020. SAFM integrates scientific rigor, complex case practice and repetition, and systems-based thinking, to trains practitioners are to deliver better health care. (TBH it was the nerdiest, most scientific program I could find!) I expect to complete the program in 2023.

I am so excited put my science passion and experience to use by teaching and inspiring others to use the latest science to heal their bodies and improve their lives!

With my Hashimoto’s in remission, the inflammation, & pain are gone, & I feel great!
